From the Editor
Reflecting on the past academic year, I am pleased to share the remarkable achievements of our graduates and the Career Center's contributions to their success. This annual career center outcomes report proudly highlights our significant strides in creating impactful career opportunities and supporting our students' professional journeys.
Out of the graduates who responded to the First Destination Survey, an impressive 85% of our graduates secured jobs within six months of graduation, with 5% pursuing further education. The graduate respondents' average annual salary is $76,786, showcasing their readiness and value in the workforce. This year, 4,118 organizations hired our graduates, and 117 institutions welcomed them for advanced studies, underscoring their talent and capabilities.
Our direct student services have increased by 13%, reaching nearly 22,000 students. Internship opportunities on Handshake grew by 14%, rising from 30,000 to over 35,000. Notably, we launched the Job Shadow program during Spring 2024, offering an alternative spring break that received positive feedback from students and employers. Our new professional photo booth has provided nearly 900 students with free professional headshots, enhancing their professional branding.
The Career Development Plan's integration into the recalibrated SJSU Transformation 2030 reflects our commitment to career readiness as a vital component of student success. Our dedicated team remains committed to continue developing the career ecosystem at SJSU, guided by our core principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we embark on the new academic year 2024/25, we are excited about our role in SJSU Transformation 2030. With the support of campus departments, alumni, and external partners, we are optimistic about our future.
We extend our gratitude to the University Marketing and Communications team for their support in publishing our inaugural digital magazine format.
Please explore more about our accomplishments in this year's annual outcomes report.
